A Successful Completion of the Capacity Building Program

Debes successfully kicked off a Capacity Building Program in March 2024, funded by a 4Culture grant. Our program focused on financial literacy and leadership training, running rigorously for twenty weeks.

• Support Programs and Services:
  • With the grant, we supported programs that provided access to resources and services from our temporary Debes office. These included limited social services, distribution of dignity kits, and connecting participants to education and resources.
  • We hosted workshops and training sessions to improve the lives of families from immigrant and refugee backgrounds and conducted outreach to encourage community participation.
  • Conducted listening sessions and disseminated relevant information to encourage participation in various proposed topics.
• Training Sessions:
  • We offered different training sessions to build the human capacity of the organization and community members. Debes provided a series of 20 training sessions on various topics, including:
    • Personal, Charity, and Non-profit Management/Leadership Skills
    • Organization’s Vision, Mission, Goals, Values
    • Performance and Time Management
    • Community Engagement
    • Spending, Banking, Budgeting, Investing
• Online Training Opportunities:
  • Debes offered online training opportunities on finance and leadership. These sessions were beneficial for community members looking to improve their skills in financial planning and leadership roles.
• Task Forces:
  • Debes formulated two task forces to steer outreach strategies and coordinate support plans to secure the needed community space.

Completion of Planned Trainings and Community Engagement:
